Cosmetic surgery is becoming a routine operation and more and more people are undergoing touch-ups driven by the desire to improve their physical appearance, eliminate imperfections, or simply solve health problems. The procedure begins in the operating room and continues for weeks during physical and mental rehabilitation, which is why it is essential to put yourself in the hands of expert surgeons.
However, to be sure of obtaining an optimal result, it is necessary to adopt all the precautions recommended by the “scalpel professionals”. The final effect desired by the patient and surgeon is achieved when the tissues have stabilized, which is why the process must be supported by the use of compression sheaths capable of accelerating the healing process. After several interviews with the most established international cosmetic surgeons, we discovered a company that more than others has been able to adapt to market demands, applying innovative cutting-edge techniques to its medical devices. We are talking about Lipoelastic, a world-famous manufacturer of post-operative sheaths, devices designed to reduce scars through compression garments.
Lipoelastic world leader in the production of post-operative compression garments
Founded in 2002 by Tomas Hradil and his wife Alena Hradilova in the Czech Republic, Lipoelastic has grown exponentially and has since continued to expand throughout Europe, where it has opened offices in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Monza, Vienna and Púchov in Slovakia. Lipoelastic designs creates and produces compression garments for post-operative care using only certified materials and innovative technologies. The company uses a Research and Development Department to design compression garments that are always cutting edge and in step with the needs of the latest generation of advanced cosmetic surgery, using new technologies connected to the most innovative methods that have allowed Lipoelastic to be distributed in 85 countries around the world, from the Middle East to America and Europe.
Post-operative recovery after cosmetic surgery is a topic that arouses infinite interest, so we decided to ask a few questions to Mrs. Alena Hradilova, owner of Lipoelastic and creator of the project, to better understand the characteristics of this high-quality product:
What prompted you to launch these compression garments on the market 22 years ago?
Twenty-two years ago, LIPOELASTIC decided to enter the compression garment market to fill a significant gap in post-operative support in the market. At the time, many patients undergoing cosmetic and reconstructive surgery had limited options for post-operative compression, and those available did not always meet the needs of comfort, effectiveness, and style. Our mission was to transform the compression garment from a medical necessity to a comfortable and stylish piece that could be proudly stored in our post-operative wardrobe. This drove us to invest in research and development, constantly innovating to offer products that would meet the needs of an increasingly discerning and informed public.
How can compression therapy help the healing process after surgery? Doesn’t a too-tight sleeve slow down circulation and create the opposite effect?
Compression therapy is a crucial component in the post-operative healing process. It helps reduce edema (swelling), promotes proper blood and lymph circulation, and provides support to the newly operated tissues. By reducing swelling, compression helps minimize pain and speeds the healing process, allowing patients to return to their daily activities more quickly while also minimizing the risk of complications however, the compression must be adequate. A garment that is too tight can put too much pressure on your body, which can impede circulation and cause discomfort, bruising, or other serious problems. For this reason, our garments are carefully designed to provide optimal compression, balancing support, and comfort. We carry a wide range of sizes and styles to ensure that every patient can find the right garment for their specific needs, and we always recommend consulting with a doctor or surgeon to determine the right size and style.
You are world leaders in the sector, what are the characteristics that push surgeons to recommend your products and make them so different from the various proposals usually found on the market?
Our world-leading position is the result of a combination of constant innovation, superior-quality materials, and an unrelenting commitment to customer satisfaction. Surgeons recommend our products for several reasons:
- High-quality materials: We use the latest generation fabrics, which are not only breathable and comfortable but also hypoallergenic and durable over time.
- Ergonomic and stylish design: Our compression garments are designed to perfectly fit the curves of the body, offering support in all the right places with an eye for fashion and aesthetics.
- Research and Innovation: We continuously invest in research and development to improve our products and respond to new market needs. We work closely with surgeons and industry professionals to ensure our products are cutting-edge and approved.
- Adaptability and customization: all the sheaths in our portfolio can also be made to measure, to ensure the correct compression for all patients.
What are the most requested sheaths and for what type of intervention are they highly recommended, if not essential?
The most requested sheaths vary depending on the type of surgery, but some categories stand out for their popularity:
- Abdominoplasty Bands and Girdles: These girdles provide compression and support to the abdominal wall after surgery, helping to keep tissue in place and reduce swelling.
- Liposuction Girdles: After liposuction, it is essential to wear compression garments to help the skin adapt to the new contours of the body, reducing the risk of irregularities.
- Compression Bras: Used after breast augmentation or reduction surgery, compression bras help stabilize implants over time and reduce swelling.
- Facelift Garments: These garments are designed to provide compression and support after facelift surgery, helping to reduce swelling and promote more even healing.
How long should LIPOELASTIC sheaths be worn to achieve the desired effects?
The length of time a compression garment should be worn depends on the type of surgery and your surgeon’s recommendations. In general, common practice calls for garments to be worn consistently, day and night, for at least 4-6 weeks after surgery. During the first few weeks, continuous compression is essential to reduce swelling and stabilize the surgical results. After this initial period, it may be sufficient to wear the garment only during the day for another 2-4 weeks. However, every patient is unique, and their needs may vary based on their situation and rate of recovery. It is essential to follow your doctor’s instructions to ensure optimal healing and long-lasting results.
In addition to post-op compression garments, you also specialize in producing scar reduction treatments. How do they work?
Our Scar Treatment line is designed to help patients improve the appearance of scars after surgery. We primarily use medical-grade silicone gels and pads, which are known for their scar-healing properties. These products work by creating a moist environment that promotes skin regeneration and reduces excess collagen production, which can make scars softer and less visible. Our gel is non-sticky, non-greasy, and quickly absorbed, making it very convenient to apply daily.
What are ACTIVE leggings? Can they be a solution to cellulite problems?
ACTIVE leggings by LIPOELASTIC are designed to combine fashion and functionality, offering additional support during physical activity. These leggings are made from the same fabric as compression sleeves, which stimulate blood and lymph circulation, helping to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Compression supports muscles during exercise, reducing fatigue and improving performance, helping to improve the appearance of skin and reduce skin irregularities.
LIPOELASTIC has celebrated 22 years of activity with success and innovation: how has the market changed in these years?
Over the past two decades, the compression garment market has undergone a significant transformation. The growing acceptance and popularity of cosmetic surgery have led to a higher demand for high-quality post-operative garments. Patients today are more informed and are looking for solutions that offer comfort, effectiveness, and attractive designs. Material technology has come a long way, allowing for the development of more advanced fabrics that offer optimal compression and improved comfort.
